Tomorrow I will be sending three different letters to three different agencies to dispute three different charged- off accounts. One of these accounts, which is through Verizon Wireless is not valid due to legal rules that apply to military members and dependents because of the Soldiers and Sailors civil Relief act. One of them is not my debt, it was actually my parents debt, that got confused due to medical and insurance billing. My father is now deceased, and to avoid not making my mother liable for the debt I am considering not sending the letter, besides the debt is scheduled to drop of my account next year, and I don’t plan on applying for anything that will use credit for a couple of years. The third letter is the most frustrating and hardest to explain but I’m hoping the company will get the Point. I worked for Famous Barr when I was a junior in college, when my class schedule changed, they quit scheduling me, after 3 weeks of not being schedule I was taken off pay roll I was not fired and I did not quit the job. All of the employee discounts I had were put on my charge card for Famous barr. The company was then bought by macy’s, and the debt account is now held by them. I wrote them a letter explaining the situation. I guess now I am playing a waiting game. I have heard that they all have 30 days to get back to me in writing? is there anything else I should do right now? I don’t know if I should contact the actual credit agencies or not. I was told that if you dispute multiple items at once through the credit reporting agencies that that will negatively affect your credit score, is that true? This waitng thig is going to drive me nuts. So, whts next?
What should I do next to repair my credit?

Сredit repair workеd fine to fix my credit. They disputed and removed lots of bad items from my credit report. I used this service – buildcredit.ifastnet.com
As a Canadian who has never had a credit issue you might think I can’t help much but I found this US government site that should help you:
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/menus/consumer/credit.shtm
the federal trade commission is a US consumer protection agency
I believe it’s the company that’s holding your debt who has 30 days to get back to the credit reporting agencies when they are checking into a dispute. I’ve never heard that Macy’s (or any other place) had 30 days to get back to YOU when you’re inquiring. (Although it could be true, I’m just not familiar with that route.)
You dispute these items (and you can do it online) with any of the 3 credit reporting agencies that are reporting negative information. It’s them that will contact Macy’s, etc, and wait for a response, to which they must respond within 30 days to validate the debt.
I’ve disputed one or two at a time through the agencies, and it definitely didn’t affect my score. (Well, actually my score went up, because they were proven to be errors, so the negatives were completely deleted from my credit files.)
